During the Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes Board of Directors meeting last week, the members assembled in the Martin J. Légère building in Caraquet entered the virtual era. For the first time in 60 years, the meetings took place in front of computer screens rather than the traditional sheets of paper.
The ten members were able to get acquainted with this new virtual boardroom platform created for the meetings. This medium will allow them to access documents virtually and to open them from home or anywhere else in the world. This new secure application will be used from now on during all Board meetings.
“This is an historical moment for us and proof that the organization continues to innovate on all levels” summarized Ms. Guilda Landry, the Board Chair. “This tool will allow us to be more efficient and will allow the Fédération Board to be at the forefront in terms of technological advancements.”
This new platform was developed by the Fédération subsidiary Réseau Acadie and is at the leading edge of Web innovation. “The Caisses populaires acadiennes is at the head of the pack when it comes to using technology, specifically automated banking machines (ABMs), Web-based transactions, and points-of-sale terminals. We believe that technology can be an important ally in making cooperative life as dynamic as possible,” stated Mr. Camille Thériault, Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes CEO.
The ten Board of Directors members come from the five regions that encompass the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes. The members are: Guilda Landry, Ernest Sirois, Donald Bastarache, André Chouinard, Brian L. Comeau, Yvon Cormier, Renald Durepos, Jean-Louis Guitard, Dominique Martin and Étienne Thériault.
