The 2009 winners of the Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie Literary Award are announced

The Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie Literary Award has announced the 2009 winners for the Annual Award and the Richelieu Youth Award, during its 11th Award Ceremony.

The Annual Award was won by Germaine Comeau for her novel Laville, published by Éditions Perce-Neige. The winner received a certificate, a bronze metal engraved with her name and a $4,000 grant.



The Richelieu Youth Award was awarded to Pierre-André Doucet for his short story Kilométrage. The winner received a certificate along with a $1,000 grant.



The award winners were revealed at the official Award Ceremony, which was held exceptionally on Wednesday, August 19, 2009, at the Édifice MARTIN-J.-LÉGÈRE of the Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes, as part of the activities of the World Acadian Congress. Mrs. Antonine Maillet, who lends her name to this award since its beginning, was present at the ceremony.

2010 literary contest
Starting next September, promotion of the 2010 literary contest will begin. Authors will be invited to submit their work for this contest, which covers the periode from January 1 to December 31, 2009. Details of the contest are available on the Award website, at  http://prixlitteraire.acadie.com 

About the Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie Literary Award
Since 1999, the Literary Award has given $65,000 in grants to 24 Acadian authors recognized for the quality of their literary work, to help them pursue their passion for creative writing. 

Created in 1998 during the 50th anniversary of foundation of Acadia Life, the Antonine-Maillet-Acadie Vie Literary Award aims to recognize Acadians who, through the quality of their literary work, contribute to the visibility and promotion of the Acadian community throughout the world.
