Caraquet, May 8, 2009 - The President and CEO of the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes, Camille Thériault, was nominated as one of the top 50 CEO's in Atlantic Canada by Atlantic Business Magazine. The announcement was confirmed at a gala organized at the World Trade & Convention Centre in Halifax yesterday evening, in front of over 650 guests who were taking part in the 11th gala of the magazine, aiming to recognize the leadership and excellence of the CEO's across the Atlantic Provinces.
In addition to business leadership, this list of the top 50 CEO's also outlines the community involvement of the companies that these champions of business management represent. The 50 companies represented by these CEO's being honoured contribute over 20 million dollars in charitable donations. These companies generate more than 14 billion dollars in annual income and provide employment to over 40,000 people.
This honour garnered by Mr. Thériault as President and CEO of the Mouvement only adds to the various tributes he has recently received, such as "Personality of the Year 2008" by L'Acadie Nouvelle, as well as an honorary doctorate in Administration from Université de Moncton, also in 2008. Mr. Thériault was chosen from among several hundred candidates to be featured among the select group of the top 50 CEO's in Atlantic Canada. Mr. Thériault is one of the only 10 CEO's from New Brunswick to appear on the list this year. Moreover, 27 CEO's on the top 50 list are from Nova Scotia, 11 are from Newfoundland-and-Labrador, and two are from Prince-Edward-Island.
The Atlantic Business Magazine is published by-monthly with a circulation of 35,000 copies of each issue. It is an independent publication established in 1989 and distributed in all four Atlantic Provinces.
