Chaleur Credit Union Ltd (Caisse populaire Chaleur ltée) reaches $ 100 000 000 in assets

Bathurst, April 29, 2009 - At its Annual Meeting, held last Monday, April 27, 2009, the Chaleur Credit Union revealed its 2008 financial performance to its members. "It is with great pleasure that I report that the Chaleur Credit Union as attained the $100,000,000 milestone in total assets in 2008 with $100,917,015 as of December 31st, 2008, increasing by 11.21% in 2008." declared the general manager, Yvon Cormier. Also, the Chaleur Credit Union did well in 2008 with an annual surplus earning before income taxes, member dividends and fair value in the amount of $770,864, a slight decrease from the $797,000 record results of 2007. "The results are respectable considering the economic situation that prevailed for the greater part of 2008." indicated the President of the Board, Clarence Landry to the assembly. Total loans reached $75,498,447 and total deposits reached $92,150,520, both marking new peaks with increases of 7.4% and 10.6% respectively in 2008.

Members' Equity
Members at the annual meeting took note that their equity in the Chaleur Credit Union increased by 21.9% in the last year, progressing from $5,961,853 in 2007 to $7,268,578 at December 31st, 2008. This level of member's equity also marks an historical peak for the Chaleur Credit Union.

Community involvement and Patronage Rebates
Each year, the Chaleur Credit Union Ltd devotes several thousand dollars in support of associations, organizations, clubs and groups working in various projects. In 2008, the Chaleur Credit Union's contribution was over $64,500 and constitutes a rebate given back to the community in general, therefore contributing to the increase of the quality of life in our area. "We can be very proud of last year's excellent results as well as the financial evolution of your credit union in the past years." indicated the general manager, Yvon Cormier.
