The Caisses populaires acadiennes invites its members to open a TSFA now

The Caisses populaires acadiennes are offering its members the opportunity to contribute to a new Tax-Free Savings Account (TFSA) and benefit from advantageous rates. To do so, the Caisses populaires acadiennes are inviting their members to deposit money into a savings product, starting November 17, in order to transfer these funds to a TFSA on January 1, 2009.
A comprehensive range of investment products are admissible:
- guaranteed investments at an advantageous fixed rate: savings redeemable at any time, progressive term savings and more;
- market-linked guaranteed investments and guaranteed capital profiled portfolios.
Announced by the federal government in its 2008 budget, the TFSA is a new registered savings vehicle. It will allow Caisses populaires acadiennes members aged 18 and over to save up to $5,000 per year, tax-free.
Investment income (interests, dividends and capital gain) as well as withdrawals from a TFSA will therefore be non-taxable. Furthermore, a unique advantage for Caisses populaires acadiennes members is that some investment products eligible to the TFSA may even be eligible for a member dividend.
RRSP or TFSA?
The TFSA is a new financial savings leverage tool complementary to the RRSP. The Caisses populaires acadiennes Financial Planners are there to help savers choose their financial vehicles according to their personal investment goals.
