Paul Bourque and Paul Lanteigne: Sénateur Hervé-Michaud Award recipients

As part of its Evening of Distinction held during the Caisses populaires acadiennes Annual General Meeting, Paul Bourque and Paul Lanteigne have been chosen as Volunteers of the year and were each presented with the Sénateur Hervé-Michaud Award. This award is a recognition of their exemplary contribution and their leadership through their volunteering in cooperative organizations and in their communities.
Notes about Paul Bourque:
Mr. Paul R. Bourque has divided his time between his career as an educator, his commitment toward the cooperative movement, his volunteer work in his community and his international humanitarian work. As part of his involvement within the cooperative movement, he has been a member of the Board of Directors and a member of the Committee of Relations with members of the Moncton Co-op Centre from 1979 to 1981, Vice Chairman in 1986 and 1987 and then Chairman from 1987 to 1995 of Caisse populaire Saint-Anselme, and then returned to the organization in 1999, as the institution was taking on the name Caisse populaire de Dieppe.
Mr. Bourque was part of the recruitment team for the new Dieppe food cooperative, having drawn the commitment of 200 new members. Furthermore, Mr. Bourque has demonstrated constant involvement in various sponsored projects and has also volunteered in the Dieppe Vélo Tour, the Kite Festival, as well as several other initiatives.
Notes about Paul Lanteigne:
Mr. Paul A. Lanteigne has dedicated his life to the development of his community by integrating the cooperative experience to its needs and goals. Since 1974, Mr. Lanteigne has worked for Société coopérative de Lamèque ltée, having chosen this institution to reach his career goals, where he has been General Manager since 1992. During close to 35 years in the Mouvement, Mr. Lanteigne has invested countless hours perfecting his knowledge, having obtained several diplomas and certificates, such as the certificate of cooperative studies from Université de Moncton as well as a diploma from the Institut de coopération acadien.
His volunteer actions within the Mouvement have taken various forms. Mr. Lanteigne was a member of the Board of Directors of Caisse populaire de Lamèque from 1984 to 1994, member of the Advisory Committee on the mandate of the Conseil acadien de la coopération in 1994, and representative of the cooperative sector of the Forum économique de la Ville de Lamèque. Since November 2005, he is Chairman of the Fédération acadienne des coopératives de consommation, as well as representative of the New Brunswick and Îles-de-la-Madeleine and since June 2006, is a member of the Consultation Council of Co-op Atlantique Managers. He has also been an important participant in the creation of the Coopérative d'énergie renouvelable de Lamèque ltée since 1999. Not limiting himself to the cooperative movement, Mr. Lanteigne is also involved in many other community and regional initiatives which meet the expectations and needs of his community.
