Members have voted in favor of the new Caisse populaire Acadie

Joined in Special meetings on March 24, members of three Caisses in the Acadian Peninsula have voted in favor of the merger plan which was presented to them.

Therefore, Caisse populaire Acadie, Caisse populaire de Caraquet and Caisse populaire de Paquetville will form a single entity identified as Caisse populaire Acadie. The new Caisse will be officially constituted on May 1st, 2008, following the approval of the project by the Superintendent of the Caisses populaires, Mr. Robert Penney.

By uniting the strengths of three Caisses, the new Caisse populaire Acadie will manage a business volume exceeding 300 million dollars, and will serve close to 13,000 members. The 51 employees of the new Caisse will provide service to members via five business locations, namely: Bertrand, Caraquet, Grande-Anse, Maisonnette and Paquetville.

This project will allow access to an even more specialized and structure consulting expertise, and a greater capacity of dividends for individuals and businesses, while ensuring the durability and financial stability of a solid and profitable Caisse for years to come.

It is with great pride that the leaders of these Caisses have welcomed the decision of their members. Nine of them will have the opportunity to sit on the new Board of Directors in the coming weeks, with the designation of a General Manager to administer the new Caisse as their first priority.

Following this merger, the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes will go from 34 to 32 Caisses, while maintaining the same number of business locations across the province at 86. The Caisses populaires acadiennes are therefore the most present in terms of business locations in New Brunswick.
