Acadia General Insurance launches its operations

Caraquet - Acadia General Insurance, a subsidiary of the Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes, is launching its operations as an insurance broker in New Brunswick. The company issued its first insurance policy as part of an internal product promotion for employees of the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes. The first employee to purchase an insurance policy with Acadia General Insurance is Fédération CEO, Mr. Camille Thériault.

This announcement was made at a Cooperation Week breakfast on Monday morning at the Martin-J.-Légère Building by Mr. Denis Laverdière, the General Manager of Acadia General Insurance. "Our strategy is to start by offering home and auto insurance to the employees of the Mouvement des caisses populaires acadiennes, in order to prepare the team for the opening of the first public office. The opening date of the first public insurance office should be announced early in 2008".

The Fédération CEO, holder of the first insurance policy issued by this new subsidiary, was enthusiastic about being the first Acadia General Insurance customer: "I am very proud to be the first customer, and I'm convinced that a many of our employees will demonstrate their confidence in this new company over the next few weeks, just as I have done. I believe that this new player in the insurance industry will make a name for itself by delivering excellence in its personalized service", stated Mr. Camille Thériault.

The General Manager of this new subsidiary is confident that the creation of a dozen offices over a five-year period remains the best approach, as stated in the initial corporate plan.

Given that legislation prohibits a Caisse populaire from selling home and auto insurance, as well as referring customers to an insurance provider, the new offices will not be affiliated in any way with those of the Caisses populaires. The opening date location of the first office will be announced in the next few months.
