A former manager at the Fédération receives the Ordre du Mérite Coopératif Acadien

Edmundston, April 24, 2010 - Étienne Boudreau, a former manager at the Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes, received the Ordre du Mérite Coopératif Acadien on Friday, during the Distinction Evening of the Caisses populaires acadiennes Annual Congress. It is the highest award in the Acadian cooperative movement.

With his many years serving the Caisses populaires acadiennes network, the impressive track record of this former manager is testament to his dedication to the Mouvement.

In recognition of his 38-year commitment to the development of the cooperative movement on local, regional and provincial levels, Mr. Boudreau was awarded the Mouvement's highest award, the Ordre du Mérite Coopératif Acadien in the 3rd degree.

Notes about Étienne Boudreau - Ordre du Mérite in the 3rd degree:

Mr. Boudreau was born in Maisonnette, in October 1950. He started his career in the Caisses populaires acadiennes network in 1971. Cooperation was already very important to Mr. Boudreau and his family. Moreover, the Caisse populaire de Maisonnette was founded and operated in the home of his maternal grandparents, Aimé and Victorine Godin. In addition, his father, Alban Boudreau, was one of the founders of this institution, which is now known as Caisse populaire Acadie.

In October 1971, Mr. Boudreau was hired by the General Manager of the Fédération at the time, Mr. Martin-J. Légère, as Regional Representative, and was responsible for the implementation of the School caisses across the province.

In 1982, he takes on the position of Assistant Manager of Technical Operations and Regional Representatives Assistant. He became Manager of that same sector in 1989, and was responsible for the Support Services team. This position gave him the opportunity to contribute to several important initiatives for the network, including serving on the National and Regional Committee on various insurance products for the caisses, as well as on several other committees. In 1994, Mr. Boudreau accepted, for one year, an interesting new challenge as Vice President of Operations / Network at the Fédération des caisses populaires acadiennes. Then, in 1996, he became General Manager at Atlantic Student Loans. In this latter role, he was part of the Financing Arrangement Working Group in 1996 and 1997, with regard to student debt and the review of the Personal Bankruptcy Act related to provincial and federal student loan programs.

Between 1998 and 2000, he was Senior Consultant, responsible for the reengineering of the network in Support Operations and Profit Management, and sat on the Deployment and Implementation Committee for several Desjardins IT Business Solutions between 1997 and 2001. From 2001 until his retirement, Mr. Boudreau was IT & Support Services Manager, supporting the caisses with his knowledge of our network and his expertise in the changes that paved the way for the new millennium. In addition, Mr. Boudreau sits on the Associative Life and Cooperation Committee of Caisse populaire Acadie since 2009.
